With a production budget of $250 million, the movie features ground-breaking special effects and underwater filmmaking technologies, among other things.
Many of the original film's cast members will reprise their roles in the sequel, including Zoe Saldana as Neytiri, Sigourney Weaver in a new role, and Sam Worthington as Jake Sully.
“Avatar 2” will be released on Dec. 16. Cameron had planned to release the film in 2014, but it was delayed seven times until later this year.
Before it came out, people were also sceptical about the first Avatar, but it went on to become one of the most successful movies of all time.
